Ruben Alvarez on Training Under Tom Deblass, Leglock Experts, and Junior Black Belts

Ruben Alvarez is a 1st degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Tom Deblass. Originally, Ruben trained under Roberto "Cyborg" Abreu and has since joined the Deblass association along with the likes of Freddy Trillo, Josh Hayden, and some other incredible BJJ athletes and instructors. Ruben is skilled in the NoGi game and well versed in leglocks, kimuras, and wrestling techniques.

In this episode, we talk about Ruben's experience training under Tom Deblass and why Ruben decided to join the team. Additionally, Ruben has lately been getting into shooting and we talk about how shooting can help Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and vice versa. Towards the end, we discuss junior black belts, so-called "leglock experts", and some stories from Ruben's experience as a bouncer.
